Bomas of Kenya is a tourist village in Langata, Nairobi. Bomas (homesteads) displays traditional villages belonging to the several Kenyan tribes.
It was established by the government in 1971 as a subsidiary company of Kenya Tourist Development Corporation as a tourist attraction. It also wanted to preserve, maintain and promote rich and diverse cultural values of various tribal groups of Kenya.

Kenya is a nation rich in culture, which is being threatened by increasing modernity. To combat the loss of this rich heritage, the Bomas of Kenya has put together a series of tribal cultural shows geared towards promoting her rich cultural diversity. It features virtually all of the 42 tribes in the country, coming together from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Bomas is a homestead and is located just 10 kilometers from the city centre with numerous homesteads reflecting Kenya’s cocktail of cultures depicting in a traditional village life style.

A drive to the Bomas of Kenya situated off Langata Road 15 kms from the city centre. This is an amazing set up that offers you a first hand experience of the culture and lifestyle of many of Kenya’s tribal groups.

Daily Shows Schedule of Performances

Monday to Friday: 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Weekends and Public Holidays: 3:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.

Experience the rich diversity of Kenyan traditional music and dance in our daily cultural performances. Our repertoire consists of over 50 dances from different ethnic communities. With live percussion, string and wind instruments, and diverse, authentic and energetic dancing, Bomas Harambee Dancers will take you on a journey through Kenya’s past and present.

From Western Kenya and the shores of Lake Victoria (Nyanza) through Rift Valley, Central and Eastern Kenya to North-eastern and Coastal Kenya, our daily shows display an array of diverse musical and dance traditions.

Some of the dances you can experience include the impressive Maasai Eunoto dance, the Kikuyu Circumcision dance, the spectacular Chuka drummers, Coastal Sengenya and Gonda dances, Swahili Taarab, NubiDholuka dance and many more.

From Thursday to Sunday, the daily shows also feature the fabulous Mambo Jambo acrobats, who showcase the best of acrobatics, including balancing, rope skipping, juggling, fire limbo, etc.
